Historical: In mid-April, 1905, Theodore Roosevelt, Philip Battell Stewart, and Alexander Lambert, went on a bear-hunt near Newcastle, Colorado, guided by John Goff and Jake Borah. The party included Borah's business partner Brick P. Wells; Jack Fry, the cook; Al Anderson, C. W. Allen, and G. M. Sprague, who came along as wranglers and packers; and 30 hunting dogs. Roosevelt was so fond of one of these dogs, "Skip," that he took Skip back to the White House with him at the end of the hunt.

Provenance: Gift of the Theodore Roosevelt (then Roosevelt Memorial) Association, 1943. Given to Theodore Roosevelt by Charles E. Emery.
Inscription: The inside front cover of the album is inscribed, "Souvenir Kodak album of President Roosevelt's bear hunt in Colorado, April 1905. Compliments of Chas. E. Emery, Colorado Springs."
