Description:  Album containing 33 black and white photographs of the Buddhist temple Fa hai si located south of Badachu in the Xiang Hills near Beijing. Subjects include temple buildings, statues, and Ming dynasty murals.

Album of paper, photoprints, adhesive, pasteboard covers. Housed in a green cloth-covered case (33 x 25 x 3 cm.) that closes with two ivory fasteners. Album consists of loose pages with a single photograph mounted on each page.
Note:  General: Fa hai si is located south of Badachu at the southern foot of Cuiwei Mountain 20 kilometers west of Beijing. Da xiong bao tian, the main hall of the temple complex, contains Ming dynasty murals painted by Wan Fuqing, Wang Shu, Zhang Ping, Wang Yi, Gu Xing, Li Yuan, Pan Fu, Xu Fulin and others. Statues of Buddhas and Li Tong, a eunuch who supervised construction of the temple, were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution.
Inscription: Label on case reads "Fa Hai Ssu." Title transliterated in Wade-Giles on page one. No captions or page numbers. Photographs are identifed by negative numbers. Handwritten German text on verso of page four describes Morrison's visit to Fa hai si. One caption handwritten in German on verso of page 20.
